The Summer Tag

So recently I saw makeupsavvy's post on the newly created summer tag, and thought I'd give it a go too, as summer is my favourite season and I did the Christmas tag too.

1. What is your favourite thing about summer?

I think one of my favourite things is definitely how light it is in the mornings, and how it stays light till late. Waking up in winter is my least favourite thing because it's dark and cold, but when there is some natural light coming in from the window it definitely makes waking up a lot easier.

2. Do you have a favourite summer drink?

I really love the smoothies that costa do, I wish I had a smoothie maker and I should really start saving to get one. Alcohol wise, I think tequila sunrise is absolutely lovely. I might do a post on it soon, but it's a mix of orange juice, tequila and grenadine and it's wonderful and screams summer!

3. Is there a location you like to go each summer?

Unfortunately I don't live near a beach, and my garden isn't very BBQ appropriate. I'd absolutely love a BBQ though. So for me, it's probably a good pub garden with lots of friends and drinks.

4. Favourite make up look for summer?

Warm weather usually means I go pretty minimal. I don't like wearing too much foundation or face products, as I don't want to panic about it sweating or rubbing off. I'm usually just tinted moisturiser, eyeliner, mascara and lipstick. I do like a good pink/coral lipstick for summer though!

5. Dresses or skirts?

I absolutely love dresses in summer. I think they look great with just sandals and they are minimal effort, and when it's super hot I don't go for much effort! I also like playsuits too.

6. Sandals or ballet pumps?

I don't really own many ballet pumps so I think it has to be sandals!

7. Do you prefer to wear your pair up or down for summer?

I rarely, rarely wear my hair up just because I don't think it suits me up. I usually go for 'bits' as I call it and just pin the sides of my hair up, so it's out of my face.

8. Deep smokey eyes or bold lips?

I much prefer bold lips during summer, as it's easier to look after during the day, plus with hayfever my eyes are usually quite watery, so I keep my eyes to a minimal!

9. Favourite perfume for summer?

I don't have a sense of smell, so this question is a bit useless for me to answer!

10. Last but not least, favourite music for summer?

My music doesn't really change, but I like quite easy listening music if I'm just chilling in the garden.

I hope you enjoy reading this tag and let me know in the comments if you decide to do it too!

My favourite eye shadows - from the Naked Palette

This post will be the first of a mini series (unsure of how often I'll be doing it however) in which I tell you my favourite shades from some palettes that I own. I thought I'd start out with the Naked palette, which was my first mid/high end make up purchase (plus I got naked 2) and I fell in love with Urban Decay ever since.

I would recommend the Naked collection to anyone. The pigmentation is great, there are so many variations you can create look wise and the mix of mattes/shimmer is decent enough. However, if you could only buy one I would definitely take time to look into them and see what shades would suit you best. Anyhow, lets move on to my favourite shades:

1. Virgin

I haven't done these in order of least - most favourite by the way, just going from left to right! Also, apologies for picture quality not being the best, my camera was playing up a lot. Virgin is a gorgeous light pink/white shade. It has small shimmer particles but it's a great shade for highlighting the inner corner of your eye, and the brow bone. If I were to create a darker look, I'd also pop it in the centre of my lid.

2. Naked

Probably my most used shade, Naked is a soft matte brown. I've used this a lot over my lid, as it's just a touch darker than my skin colour so works quite well, however if I put a shade like Virgin on my lid, Naked works in the crease, as it's buildable.

3. Buck

My second most used shade, Buck is a darker matte brown, and the ultimate crease colour. I think it works great for adding definition, and also a great transition shade for a softer smokey eye. Blends easily and I usually team it up with Naked for a natural eye look.

4. Smog

A gorgeous shade, and definitely one for drawing attention to the eye. Smog is a dark golden colour with a bit of shimmer. I really like this shade on it's own or with buck in the crease. It's packed with pigmentation and very easy to work with, 90% of the time when using this colour I sweep it over my lid, blend the edges and it's done. I just did a FOTD with it here in fact.

5. Darkhorse

Not a shade I go to a lot, but one that I do just like looking at. I think it'd be perfect for a smokey eye, as it's much softer than a black, but the added shimmer has always made me unsure of what to do with it. It's very pigmented and would works well with smog.

What are your favourite shades from the Naked palette?
