Golden Globes - My thoughts

10:53

So I haven't seen the actual episode yet, but will be watching it later...however this week I wanted to feature the golden globes as it's the beginning of my favourite season, the awards season! I will also be watching the golden globes tonight so might re-edit this post, so take a look back on Wednesday for the more red carpet type post.

I won't be commenting on every award, just the main ones and my favourites.

Best Motion Picture (Drama) - 12 Years a Slave
I am not surprised by this. I'm hoping to see this film this week, but while I do want Gravity to win something, I am totally ok with it winning the more technical awards. This film however is advertised like oscar bait for the demographics of the award pickers (mainly over 60, white, male e.t.c)

Best Actress in a motion picture (drama) - Cate Blanchett (Blue Jasmine)
I am a little surprised by this but also I've not seen any advertisements for Blue Jasmine before. I was really hoping for Emma Thompson or even Sandra Bullock but looks like I've got some films to be watching!

Best Director - Alfonso Cuaron (Gravity)
Not surprised at all and very pleased. He completely owned the screens this year with Gravity.

Best Motion Picture (Comedy or Musical) - American Hustle
Kind of annoyed. If you read my review for American Hustle then you would know I didn't enjoy it that much, but I really was hoping for Wolf of Wall Street. I think all of the nominees in this section would have made good or interesting winners, but I just wanted Wolf of Wall Street.

Best Actress in a musical or comedy - Amy Adams (American Hustle)
Not surprised. I really enjoyed her in the role and thought she was fantastic. I don't think she had any huge contenders in this category.

Best actor in a musical or comedy - Leonardo DiCaprio (Wolf of Wall Street)
Yessssssssssss! So happy. I am a huge Leo fan and wish him all the best for the oscars (this year lets hope) Again, I don't think he had any huge competition other than Christian Bale.

Best supporting actress - Jennifer Lawrence (American Hustle)
Completely deserves it. I am all with the hype of Jennifer Lawrence and think she is brilliant. She was my second favourite in American Hustle after Amy Adams and whenever she was on screen she was so mesmerising. Love her.

Best TV series (comedy) - Brooklyn Nine-Nine
A little shocked at this as when I watched the pilot I wasn't impressed. Although I like Andy Samberg I just didn't find it that funny, and I'm more of a Girls fan. However, it shows a good start for the series.

Overall I kind of guessed the big winners but still was shocked in some ways. I'm hoping to watch the show tonight and remember come back wednesday for the fashion side.
