| Photo by Rhianon Lassila on Unsplash New year is a funny one isn't it? We make fun and laugh at the whole 'new year new me' saying however I think most of us still look at new year at the time to set goals and at least keeping them by the end of January is a goal in itself. I'm not calling mine resolutions because I genuinely think that when they are called this I don't still to them, because I see them more as a fad. These are the changes I want to be making throughout 2018. 1. Film a second a dayThis is something I've been wanting to do for a few months, but who wants to start a year task on June 22nd! It will hopefully encourage me to take my camera more places, get out more so I have something to show and it will be super cool to look back in 2019 when I've completed it. 2. Get HealthyI literally say this every year 😶 however this year I definitely mean it (lol). I basically am a massive foodie and my life revolves around food. I try to bring it into every situation - we are going bowling, well lets go the pub opposite first for some dinner. We are going shopping? Well do you want to start at Costa so we can make a plan of where we will go. I'm obviously not going to stop eating out, but I just need to make some healthy changes and swaps in my life. Get healthy is also very vague, but heres some things I want to change with it: - Going veggie/vegan one day a week by swapping meat for something else or eating a purely veggie/vegan meal. - Stop drinking diet coke literally all the time. (I don't really drink tea or coffee except one in the morning so I use that as my excuse but that needs to stop) - Cut down on eating out. This relates more to my lunches as I rarely bring my own lunch except for when I cook pasta because I somehow turn into Jesus feeding the thousands. I'm getting a slow cooker for Christmas so this will definitely help as we can bulk prepare meals and freeze it and then take it into work the next day. - Blog my journey as well. This will definitely encourage me both to be more healthy and be better at blogging. I'm hoping to just include recipes, progress or what I've done differently. 3. Become more ethical about my living situationI feel like this is everywhere at the minute since Blue Planet II literally broke all of our hearts. We are already pretty good at recycling but we definitely need to get better, I'm going to get my own water bottle which will again encourage me to stop drinking fizzy drinks and start taking tote bags with me. I'll again be blogging about this because it is important to me, I cried twice this month over the polar bear video and just thinking about it hurts me. 4. Be more consistent/better at bloggingAgain I guess this is a pretty vague one but thats because I don't really know where to go with my blog, so I definitely want to focus more on it this year and make some really good changes. I definitely need to get better at self promotion but I also need to take more photos because thats always my downfall, like oh I don't have a photo for this so I just won't post it. I really enjoy blogging as an outlet and love reading other blogs, so I'm going to just try really hard and make a good routine to balance it with work and life. And thats it! I think they are pretty easy to attain seeing as they are quite vague, but I'm hoping as I'm including it with my blog and seeing differences that it will encourage me to keep going and hopefully achieve more in 2018. What are your goals for 2018? |
The Night Before is about 3 friends who after years of going out on Christmas eve tradition, have decided to do it one last time before Ethan starts his family.
I put this movie on while wrapping presents as I'd never seen it before, plus I love Joseph Gordon-Levitt and Seth Rogen. It was pretty much what I expected it to be, full of drugs, alcohol and comedy. There were definitely some funny moments and the best lines were the subtle ones rather than the big outlandish jokes.
It had a couple of people I wasn't expecting to star which was a nice touch, and the chemistry between the cast was great. I wouldn't say it's an amazing film but for a modern Christmas film it was decent enough. I probably wouldn't make it a tradition to watch again, however if you are bored of watching Home Alone for the 1000th time this year then it would be worth it as something different.

New Years Eve is the ultimate excuse for treating yourself to a brand new look to celebrate the night in style. While window shopping online for some inspiration, here's 3 looks below from 3 different online shops.
This dress is so cute and perfect for new years eve, it's fun yet not too daring as it's all black. I love the feather detail and its different to any other dress I own.
I think I must be getting old because I'm looking at coats for going on a night out! You never know how cold it will be outside so this coat would be perfect from walking between bars but still looking good. The leopard print is perfect against the black as it will really stand out.
I think these boots are a great final touch to the outfit. They have a good heel on them which means you won't be hurting too much and can still make it to midnight, plus the texture on them will stand out against the texture on the dress. They look like a great statement piece not just for new year.
If your plan is somewhere a little more posh where you need to dress up then this jumpsuit is for you. The cut outs are still fun and add a great touch to the jumpsuit, however the length and colour is sophisticated especially with red being a huge trend colour.
Because of the bold colour of the jumpsuit I'd want to keep the other details quite neutral, and these heels are perfect for this. I would definitely need some height if I were wearing a jumpsuit, however again I love a thicker heel so I still feel like I can actually walk in heels.
This bag looks the perfect size to fit everything you need in, and the rose gold clasp matches the rose gold in the shoes. I only really have black clutch bags and the price of this is perfect!
This is definitely the most fun outfit and I think it would work for most occasions, like a house party or a pub where you can be pretty casual and a bit more daring. I love this body and the star glitter detailing, I'd definitely wear something underneath however depending on where the stars fall I think you could get away with some nipple covers!
Kick flare trousers don't really suit me, however I absolutely love these and they aren't as out there as some other trousers I've seen recently. They are still fun and I love the zip detailing, and the body would look great tucked in.
I absolutely adore these shoes and have been eyeing them up every time on the website, however I'm not really sure they'd work in my wardrobe. I think it would really finish off this outfit with the bright colour and unique heel shape.
Whats your look for NYE?
My second film pick for December is Love actually. One of my favourite Christmas films of all time and a great comedy to match. It stars literally every British actor/actress so I won't start with a list.
Each time I watch this movie I find new parts I love and I can never make my mind up on my favourite storyline. I genuinely think it's Colin Firth's storyline however Bill Nighy is the best character in the movie, but then you forget how heartbreakingly good Emma Thompson is! It's so difficult to choose!
If you've never seen this film before, one what have you been doing all year but also get your TV on now and get watching! It will most definitely get you in the mood for Christmas. I absolutely love how everything connects and some of the smallest lines/parts are the funniest. The rewatch factor is definitely there and I'd highly recommend.
Whats your favourite film this winter?
Each Friday in December I'll be reviewing some classic Christmas films which are bound to get you in the festive season. First we'll be kicking things off with The Muppet Christmas Carol.
I think everyone knows the tale of A Christmas Carol and this version is no different except it's with a muppet twist. Michael Caine stars as Scrooge, Gonzo as Charles Dickens and Kermit as Bob Cratchit.
This film is probably one of the most famous muppet movies and you can tell its loved by everybody because it's nearly always on TV. It's a great family film and everyone will find something they'll love about it. For children it's still educational and fun with the catchy songs however its still got the jokes and the nostalgia for the adults.
Michael Caine does a fabulous job as Scrooge but the real selling point is Gonzo as Charles Dickens and Rizzo who helps him narrate the movie. This film really made me fall in love with Gonzo as a child as I thought he was just absolutely hilarious!
This film will instantly make you feel Christmassy, the settings are fantastic, the music is great and you'll find jokes that you probably missed the time before. You can't go wrong!

| Photo by Karla Alexander on Unsplash Now I have to admit, I'm really not a fan of baths. I've got a fabulous talent of being amazingly lazy and procrastinating at almost everything, however I also find it hard to just sit and relax because I just get thinking about everything. That being said, when I'm really poorly or cold sometimes you just need a good bath with a fizzy bath bomb to help soothe and relax at the end of the day. So I have something to focus on, I created a playlist which helps set the mood. I do listen to this when I'm on the laptop as well and need some quiet music that I'm not really thinking too much into. So if you are looking for some new tunes for your next dip in the tub, you can listen to my playlist on spotify here. Whats your favourite songs to listen to in the bath? |
December should be a pretty busy month for everyone however it's usually my best time for watching things because of all the holidays, I can usually get through a good few seasons of something in a week! Here's my picks of what I'll be looking forward to seeing this month on Netflix.
Kick Ass
Kick Ass is one of the best 'superhero' movies of the last few years. Aaron Johnson is absolutely brilliant and Chloe Grace Moretz is the ultimate badass. It's really well shot and written, although it can be quite gory in a few places so not one for the whole family! I've not seen it in a few years so I'm looking forward to watching it again. Here is the trailer.
After 25 years Judd Apatow is returning to stand up comedy with this special on Netflix. I absolutely love Judd Apatow, he's one of the greatest comedic directors and producers going. This looks like its got some great conversations with other actors and comedians, and I love a good special on Netflix.
So I promise this didn't mean to be an Aaron Johnson special! Nowhere Boy tells the story of John Lennon as a teenager, and I think it's a wonderful film with Aaron Johnson doing an amazing job playing John Lennon. It's where I first watched Aaron in a big movie and I knew he was one to watch.
Of course you can't write a December pick without including a Christmas film, and Netflix are bringing back Love Actually which is probably one of the best Christmas films ever. I know I'll be watching at least 3 times over the season!
